Are you planning on going on a trip? Are you traveling to Japan on business, or Australia for some exploring? Both options require a different set of criteria when preparing for these types of trips. One demands a suit and tie, shined shoes, and proper etiquette. The other would need some hiking boots, shorts and hat, and plenty of sunscreen.

Regardless of which type of trip you are taking, work-related or fun, there are a few essentials you will want to pack that could prove useful in either scenario. Below, we look at a few of the tech necessities you should take with you on any trip.

Smartphone

Your smartphone is perhaps the most crucial piece of equipment you can take with you on a trip to a foreign city or your local wilderness. Not only is it a means of communication, a cell phone can also serve many other functions.

Firstly, it can act as a GPS device. With it, you can find your way through the streets of Tokyo, or the routes through the Outback. This can be your best friend. It can help prevent you from getting lost, and if you do you can call for help.

Secondly, it is also a camera. If you need to take pics of a suggested construction site or the arid landscape you are trekking through, your cell phone has a powerful camera built into it. Ranging between 16 and 20 megapixels, but going as high as 40, these cameras can take amazingly detailed pictures that retain their resolution even after zooming them in.

Headphones

Earbuds may work to give you sound when listening to music from your cell phone (another use for the device), but they do not typically drown out the noises around you. You have to turn up the volume in order to zone out into the music, then the people around you will start to hear your music.

Bring along a good set of headphones instead of earbuds. These are better for the airplane flights or car rides to your destination, especially if you will be traveling for a while. You can turn your music up as loud as you want without the outside world hearing it as well.

E-Reader

To pass the time during those long travel times, or even to relax at the end of an eventful day, many people will turn to reading. More than just reviewing your social media, we are talking about reading a novel or poetry. While your cell phone will allow you to do this, the size of the average screen is just too small to read for long periods of time comfortably. This is why you should bring along an e-reader.

You can bring a dedicated e-reader such as a Kindle or Nook, or you can use a tablet to access your reading content. Either way, the time will fly by as you fly over the Pacific Ocean to your destination. Some will allow you to listen to your music as well. Combining the two after a very busy day of meetings or exploration can be very refreshing.

Fire Stick

If you are traveling to another country, you may find that the television content is not relevant to your enjoyment (it may even be in a different language). Finding video entertainment can sometimes be difficult. That is why the Amazon Fire Stick is so popular, and useful. You can use this handy little device to watch video content that you enjoy.

The Fire Stick will plug into any HDMI-compatible TV and allow you to stream the content from your Amazon account, whether purchased or uploaded to your Cloud. This will allow you to relax in your hotel room and enjoy some of your favorite movies or TV shows, without having to rely on subtitles.
