Don’t want your SMS messages integrated with Instant messages in Hangouts? If yes, there is a simple way to disable sending and receiving SMS in hangouts.
With the latest update in Hangouts, the Android app handles SMSes along with instant messages making it easy for you to access both from one place. However many people, including me, don’t like to receive the SMS notifications on hangouts.
So, to disable SMS integration in hangouts, you are required to head over to the hangouts app and choose the settings option
- In the settings menu, select the SMS option
- Uncheck the checkbox which says “Turn on SMS”
That’s it … You have now reverted back to your built in SMS app
